To: Freshman Carly

You struggle deciding on which cereal to eat. Special K says it in the name, but Honey Bunches has an extra crunch. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE THOUGHT YOU'D HAVE IT TOGETHER BY NOW. 

I thought you'd grow out of the Disney Channel thing. You did, to an extent (as Hannah Montana the Movie is currently playing). However, you've never faced a harsh reality. And most news channels give you the "mean world syndrome" (you'll learn this in Psych 101). God protects you more than most wild kangaroos. You're still sensitive to old people and dog movies, and hopefully that never changes. 

One day you'll feel the comfort of 2-ply toilet paper.

One day you'll find fewer knock-off brands in your shopping cart.

One day you'll buy something without a sale tag.

I've yet to enjoy such a luxury, but one day we will.

Careers, babies, and getting off parent's insurance. The future is bright of occasional break-downs and life-changing moments. You'll never win an Instagram giveaway, but that doesn't mean you're not lucky. Keep your head higher than your confidence (because that's their favorite thing to test you on in college). 

Black nails, Coldplay, and people who understand you. 

That's how you began and that's how you're going to leave.
